By bringing remote, real-time management to the optical layer, we make it possible for these customers to remotely reconfigure their physical networks on the fly. This essentially creates a “virtual” optical layer that can fully automate their fiber plant and network topology, and provide instantaneous (<20ms switch time) control of their optical paths. Glimmerglass solutions provide extremely low power (<85 watts), compact (<4RU), fully non-blocking and transparent photonic cross-connects that scale from 16x16 to 192x192 fiber ports.
